Uplifting Trance Events, Parties & Festivals

While the (uplifting) trance scene is relatively small, you will definitely be able to find some amazing events around the globe to meet likeminded people, see some of your favorite artists, and listen to some amazing uplifting trance music live. While this page will, of course, not be able to cover everything, it should provide you a helpful first overview.

Luminosity Beach

For many people, this is the “mecca of trance”. This festival takes place every year in the summer and is located literally on the beach in Zandvoort, Netherlands, only one hour away from Amsterdam. As it’s four days long, you can enjoy your favorite trance music while also getting a tan and feeling like you’re far away at a beach holiday. While the festival is not the biggest in size, it probably is the biggest in size of an uplifting trance lineup. You find the absolute who is who of uplifting trance – bigger artists as well as smaller artists. If you are missing one of your favorite uplifting acts on the lineup one year, there is a very good chance this artist will be booked the next year. You will also meet people from all over the world who came all the way to experience their favorite music and favorite crowd.

The festival usually has four areas and the FOMO might get real as three or four uplifting trance acts might be playing at the same time. While even Luminosity does book some acts with more of a techno or big room influence, they probably do that the least of any major festival. Overall, it is uplifting heaven. Typical headliners are the likes of Aly & Fila, John O’Callaghan, or Bryan Kearney.

They also upload a lot of their live sets on YouTube, so you can get a good impression of what the festival looks like: Luminosity on YouTube

A State of Trance

ASOT (A State of Trance) is not only the radio show of Armin van Buuren, but also the festival series. It takes place every February in Rotterdam, Netherlands, since 2024 after spending several years in Utrecht. This festival is usually a weekender taking place on Friday and Saturday two to three stages on Friday and up to five stages on Saturday.

Us uplifting trance fans, we have to make a few compromises when attending ASOT, as some stages, especially the mainstage, are often heavily driven by (melodic) techno artists who, to the mainstream or younger audience, are probably more well-known names than our trance favorites. For instance, in 2026, both the mainstage and stage three were heavily driven by that sound. In addition, stage five was focusing more on progressive trance. However, at the same time, stage two and stage four delivered for us and brought us some absolutely amazing sets – featuring some of the biggest current uplifting trance names like Aly & Fila or John O’Callaghan, as well as legends like Sean Tyas or Signum. Overall, ASOT is still always a great experience for uplifting trance fans and, thanks to Armin van Buuren and his big reach, probably still the biggest marketing push for uplifting trance music.

ASOT also regularly hosts (one-day) events in other cities and countries, so check their calendar to find out if they are coming to your area.

Transmission

Maybe the most epic of them all. This event series is usually a one-day event taking place inside an arena and is known for some of the most amazing stage design and light shows. Transmission regularly takes place in different countries such as the Netherlands, Poland, Czechia, Thailand, Malaysia, or Australia. It is also a brand particularly beloved by uplifting trance fans as the lineups are usually very “pure” with heavy focus on uplifting trance acts like Daxson, Gouryella, Aly & Fila, or Darren Porter.

It is hard to put into words, but many people are in awe the first time they see some visuals of a Transmission event. So we heavily suggest to check out some of their uploaded live sets on YouTube to see for yourself.

Dreamstate

Dreamstate is another indoor arena event taking place in Europe (Poland), but most importantly, probably the mecca of trance in the US. The Dreamstate festival takes place once a year in California and while it’s outdoors like Luminosity, it’s also in the dark and full of amazing light and laser shows like Transmission.

Similar to ASOT, you won’t get excited about every single act they book as they also try to appeal to the bigger and younger audience by booking acts from the techno szene (as well as psytrance), but if you go to the right stage, you will definitely find some amazing uplifting trance acts playing. Dreamstate is also, similarly to Luminosity, very much known for the friendy and positive “trance family” vibe as music lovers come travelling from quite big distances and are really there for the music.

You should also be able to find some of the Dreamstate trance sets, if you search for it on YouTube.

Tranceformations

Tranceformations festival takes place in Wrolac, Poland, and creates a similar vibe as Transmission. It’s a bit smaller, but then might sometimes even help to create a bit more of an intimate vibe. It takes place indoors and is also known for having amazing light and laser shows. Again, many of their sets are on YouTube, so we heavilly advice to take a look there for yourself.

While Tranceformations is not exclusively an uplifting trance event, they definitely feature a lot of amazing uplifting trance acts like Aly & Fila, Daxson, or Roger Shah in their lineups. Then, to spice it up, they also add a bit from the tech trance or hard trance side.

Rong

Rong is famous for hosting some amazing trance events in the UK. They also host the Rong Open Air Festival in Malta every year – an event spanning several days right in the sun, right next to the pools and right next to the beach. It reminds you of a typical party vacation you might have booked in your younger years, but with the most amazing lineup you can imagine. Similarly to at Luminosity, you will find a who is who of the (uplifting) trance world – both regarding bigger and smaller artists.

Unkonscious

Another one at the beach and in the sun. Maybe us trance fans don’t have it so bad, huh? Unkonscious festival takes place every year in Pattaya, Thailand. They have also hosted an event in Croatia in the past, so stay tuned and keep an eye for it if you’re hoping for another event in Europe. Unkonscious is also very focused on trance, so it’s basically guaranteed that you will find some of your favorite uplifting trance acts on the lineup. At the same time, they also dive into the world of harder trance and tech trance with some of their bookings.

Uplifting Trance at Other Electronic Music Festivals

Now here comes the bummer. “What about EDC, Tomorrowland, etc.” you may ask. This is where it becomes clear that uplifting trance is not a very popular mainstream genre anymore. While it used to be at least featured on one stage on one day in many of the past years, many festivals have stopped booking any uplifting trance at all and don’t even put it on a smaller stage anymore. Still, keep your eyes open and check out the lineups. You might find an uplifting trance stage if you’re lucky. Also, who knows, with Tiesto coming back to trance and the new generation “trance” becoming popular and seemingly replacing techno as the big viral trend, maybe this will also spill over to uplifting trance being featured more again. There are also some festivals like the Sunrise festival in Poland that are still more known for booking trance than others.
